Reports to: Nurse Manager
This position can be filled by either a Licensed Registered Nurse or a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).
Client Care Responsibilities:
Perform ultrasounds. Conduct pregnancy tests. Assess client needs and make nursing judgments which reflect safe nursing practices. Maintain accurate records/care plans/follow up documentation. Assure accurate implementation of physician’s orders. Provide education for clients. Provide follow up care for ultrasound clients in collaboration with client’s social worker. Perform Ultrasound Live as needed.
Public Relations:
Promote a positive agency image. Represent the clinic in the community as delegated by NLFS Nurse Manager
Self Development:
Complete continuing education requirement for renewing License as a Registered Nurse or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Maintain current Registered Nursing License, if applicable. Attend professional workshops and seminars, etc. Participate in professional organizations. Stay informed of CareNet, NIFLA, and Heartbeat International policies and recommendations. Keep current on the direction and trends by reading literature in pregnancy care, management, women’s health issues and community resources. Send a copy of certificates of attendance received for continuing education seminars to supervisor to be included in personnel file.
Other Responsibilities:
Stay knowledgeable about NLFS medical policies and procedures. Assist Nurse Manager with regular meetings with medical team volunteers and other tasks as assigned. Attend special events including the Banquet, Walk for Life, Laugh for Life, and Sanctity of Life events
Mandatory Qualifications:
Holds a current Registered Nurse’s License in good standing with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing or is a sonographer who has received education from an accredited program or completed training in an accredited practice, and is a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Experience in obstetrics preferred.
