Adoption Information Meeting

At the Information Meeting, members of our adoption staff share detailed information about New Life Family Services, our adoption services and expectations. Both husband and wife are required to attend the information meeting. Some of the items discussed include the adoption study process, birth parent requests, openness, how birth parents come to a decision of choosing a family, placement and finalization. Upon attending the meeting, you will receive the formal adoption application, educational literature and other useful tools to assist you in your decision making process. Approval of the Preliminary Application is required for attendance.

Adoption Openness Seminar

During the Openness Seminar, members of our adoption staff will present the history of openness in adoption, provide you with a definition for the various levels of openness within adoption, and frankly discuss the advantages and disadvantages of openness for all members of the adoption triad. In addition, we offer a birth parent panel so you can hear about openness from a birth parent's perspective and ask them the questions that have been weighing on your mind. Both husband and wife are required to attend this seminar while in the adoption study process. Approval of the Formal Application is required for attendance.

Infant Care Class

The Infant Care Class is a wonderful opportunity for prospective adoptive parents to learn about infant care and development. This class is led by Dr. Peter Dehnel, MD who has been working in pediatrics for over 20 years. Topics covered include health concerns, feeding and nutrition, immunizations and more. Families must be in/or have completed the home study process in order to attend.

Adoptive Parent Panel

Feel like you are the only one who has struggled through your adoption process? You are not alone! The Adoptive Parent Panel is an excellent place to hear several families share their adoption experience. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear from adoptive families on every aspect of their adoption process from the waiting process to finalization. Families must be in/or have completed the home study process in order to attend.

Adoptee Panel

A group of adoptees will share their stories. They will talk about what it is like growing up adopted, how adoption was shared with them and what their relationship is like with their birth parents. Families must be in/or have completed the home study process in order to attend.
